The Knights have a tradition of supporting those with physical and developmental disabilities. More than $382 million has been given over the past three decades to groups and programs that support the intellectually and physically disabled, with $4.1 million donated in 2012 alone.
One of the largest recipients of funds in this area is the Special Olympics. In 2012, there were more than 107,000 Knights who donated 315,000 hours of service at nearly 20,000 Special Olympics events. Individual councils donated $3.7 million to the Special Olympics in 2013. The order’s support for the Special Olympics goes back to the very first games in 1968.
In 2012, more than 5,000 wheelchairs were distributed in 10 countries in a partnership with the Global Wheelchair Mission.
We’ve also been building bridges to maximize the potential for unity within the greater organization.

First Degree
Charity, in countless volunteer hours; as well as donations of almost $200 million dollars.
Second Degree
Unity, in partnerships with nonprofit organizations: Special Olympics, the Global Wheelchair Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Food for Families and Coats for Kids, not counting the endless community charities we serve.
Third Degree
Fraternity, we share our brotherly love by evangelizing to our communities.
Fourth Degree
Patriotism, beginning in WW1 to the present, we have supported the war effort and the troops. After WW1, we became involved in education, occupational training, and employment programs for the returning troops. We volunteer at 136 of the 153 Veterans Affairs Medical Centers.
